The basics:
To start with, the average person has about 100,000 hairs on their head and each hair shaft has three layers to protect it from the harsh sun, wind, and waters.
Shiny hair is a sign of good health because the layers of the cuticle on the shafts lie flat and reflect light. When the layers are tightly together damage is less likely to happen. But once damage begins the layers become separated and split ends form.
Teens usually have more oily hair than adults
Blonde's have more hair than brunettes and red heads.

My sister has a problem with split ends. I always catch her pulling apart the ends of her hair. Is this what she is suppose to do? Do you know what causes split ends and how can they be fixed?
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, split ends form for many reasons. Excessive use of heat styling tools, overwashing, improper detangling techniques, and excessive use of styling products are just a few of the reasons someone gets split ends. The only real way to fix these split ends is through haircuts and trims every 4 to 6 weeks. Your sister should never pull at the ends of her hair; this will only cause the ends to split even further in the future.
